Requirements for Optimal Local Route Planning of Autonomous Ships

Ships transport large volumes of cargo, and are therefore major contributors to the global economy. Ship collisions can cause significant economic losses. Path-planning algorithms prevent such by suggesting optimal path for navigation. Conventional path-planning disadvantageous, because they do not consider navigation practices followed experienced navigators. Therefore, in this study, we developed requirements local planning autonomous ships considering open sea, restricted waters, two-ship multi-ship interactions, addition adopted navigators rules COLREGs part B. First, under various scenarios were collected. Subsequently, these linked B extract key keywords related collision avoidance. Finally, generating drafted based on keywords. The utility was demonstrated applying them representative timely accurate evaluation their effectiveness. proposed be utilized improve existing develop superior future.
